MOVIES, BOOKS & BUNCO

LET'S GO TO THE MOVIES
On the second Saturday of each month, we get together to see a really good movie. Jennifer Sellers researches our choices of films available that weekend and puts out a list with a short synopsis of each film from which the "movie club" members choose. We tend to pick "art house" films showing at the Angelica Theaters in either Dallas or Plano, or the Inwood Theatre, but we have gone to more main stream wide releases when something really good comes along. Once the movie is selected, Jennifer lets us all know by email which movie was selected, where it is showing and what time.
After the show, some, if not all of the group go out to dinner at a nearby restaurant to discuss the movie and, of course, politics.
If this sounds like fun to you, contact Jennifer Sellers (972) 231-8338, to be put on her contact list.

LIKE TO READ & DISCUSS BOOKS?
Then you need to join our book club that meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every other month. The current book we are reading is Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace ...One School at a Time. This is an amazing true story about the change that one man has been able to make in a country that plays such a big role in middle eastern politics today. We will meet to discuss this book on March 11th. May's book will be Norwegian Woods by Haruki Murakami and July's book will be The Nine by Jefferie Tobin. Nancy Brumley coordinates the club, so if you would like to join us and be put on the list to be contacted about the books chosen, and reminders of the meeting, please contact Nancy (972) 644-3058.
We are a pretty informal club, but we do discuss the book, not just visit. We usually have someone lead the discussion with specific questions of a literary nature. Members attending bring snacks, desserts, wine, etc. to share during the evening.
Recent books we have read and discussed are A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini; Waiting for Snow in Havana, Peace Not Apartide, by Jimmy Carter; and Water for Elephants. As you can see we like a diverse selection and we select books by consensus of the members present.

Like Mindless Dice Games .... Bunco is For You!
Four times a year we get together to play Bunco at Lenna Webb's house (17201 Hidden Glen Drive, Dallas). This easy to understand game gives everyone the opportunity to move from table to table, changing partners so that you get to meet and visit with everyone. NDTDW furnishes the liquid refreshments (wine, water & soft drinks) and table snacks. We ask those attending to bring a snack or dessert to share at the break. And we have GREAT PRIZES, cash and other goodies.
Our next Bunco Night is November 2nd, 7 PM. We can accommodate 40 people so we require RSVP's to reserve your spot on a first come, first serve basis. We request a $10.00 donation for the evening to cover expenses and prizes! Contact Lenna (972) 732-7712 to RSVP and for further information.
