North Dallas & Collin County Texas Democratic Women &

The Dallas County Democratic Party

TO HOST ARIANNA HUFFINGTON

Mark your calendar for May 7th.  NDTDW will be hosting Arianna Huffington, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post.  She is a nationally syndicated columnist, and author of eleven books.  She is also co-host of  "Left, Right & Center," public radio's popular political roundtable program.

In May 2005, she launched The Huffington Post, a news and blog site that has quickly become one of the most widely-read, linked to, and frequently-cited media brands on the Internet.

In 2006, she was named to the Time 100, Time Magazine's list of the world's most influential people.  Huffington has made guest appearances on numerous television shows, including "Charlie Rose," "Oprah," "Nightline," "Real Time with Bill Maher," "Inside Politics," "Larry King Live," "Hardball," "Good Morning American," the "Today" show, "Countdown" and "The O'reilly Factor."

WHAT ELSE DO WE DO?

The members of the North Dallas Texas Democratic Women have found many ways of practicing Political Group Therapy.  We meet monthly for programs of substance related to local, State and National issues.  We meet socially at our monthly Movie/Dinner Club, our bi-monthly Book Club, our four times annually Bunco Parties as well as at our August Summer Party and December Holiday Party.  Through these venues we promote the increased political activity of Democratic women in Texas politics and government.

Our regular club meetings are on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:45 PM.

We meet at the Northaven United Methodist Church, 11211 Preston Rd, Dallas (between Forest and Royal Lanes.)

We publish a monthly newsletter entitled The Link.  If you are interested in being put on our mailing list, contact Lenna Webb with your complete name and mailing address.

If you wish to join, just print the Membership Application/Renewal form on the "Join" page and mail to our Treasurer as instructed on the application.  We are currently working on your being able to join on-line with payment made by credit card.  Check back soon if you prefer that option.

BIG NEWS IN 2008

NDTDW was founded to promote increased representation of women in government.  Our founder stepped out first in 2004 and again in 2006 to run for Texas House District 102.  Although she was unsuccessful in ousting her opponent (who won in 2006 with a variety of last minute dirty tricks), she has set the example and plowed the road leaving a fertile field for our next candidate.  A joint search committee was formed between NDD102 and NDTDW to locate just the right candidate to run for that position in 2008.  They did a great job, and we are pleased to announce that Carol Kent, currently serving her second term on the Richardson Independent School District's Board, will be running.  She has impressive credentials, a winning presence and personality and the drive to win.

She will need lots of help to get elected.  If you want to get involved at the grassroots level and make a difference in your back yard, contact Lenna Webb, her campaign Treasurer, by clicking here or go to her website by clicking here.
